Honeywell MN10CESWW Air Conditioner

If summer creeping around the corner conjures up thoughts of clammy hands and days hiding in the shade to avoid the heat, Honeywell may have the solution. With this portable air conditioner, you can beat the heat with an impressive 10,000 british thermal units of cooling power.

Cooling Performance

With a formidable cooling power capacity of 10,000 BTUs, the Honeywell MN10CESWW enters the market, servicing an estimated area of up to 450 square feet of living space. With a maximum airflow of 174 cubic feet per minute, the Honeywell MN10CESWW is capable of removing up to 2.8 pints of moisture from the air per hour.

Efficiency / Certifications

Unfortunately, with an Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) of 9.5, this unit falls slightly below the industry average of 9.7. That is not to say that this unit has a bad EER, in fact, 9.5 is still moderately efficient.

Additionally, the Honeywell MN10CESWW does not benefit from an Energy Star certification. This means that the Honeywell MN10CESWW will cost you more to run than several other units on the market. Some efficiency may be regained by using the device’s multiple fan functions. Essentially what this means is you needn’t have your unit functioning at full capacity non-stop, instead simply select a lower fan function.

On a positive note, this device is UL-listed, which basically declares that it has passed public health & safety assessments at Underwriters Laboratories.

Convenience

Thankfully, this unit is quite convenient to operate. With a wireless remote control, the user is enabled to issue commands to their appliance from anywhere in the room. In addition to this, the inclusion of a 24-hour programmable timer allows the user to input a customised timetable of operation for their device. This is useful if you are frequently out of the house, yet still wish to return to a cool and refreshed home.

An Auto-Evaporative system means emptying the device after long periods of dehumidifying won’t be a problem, unless in extreme humidity conditions.

The Honeywell MN10CESWW also benefits from a Fan Only mode, and a Dehumidify Only mode. As their titles suggest, these two functions will offer either air circulation, or humidity regulation, minus the cooling effects of your air conditioner. We at Air Conditioners Rated always find these functions to be exceptionally helpful on humid days that are not too hot.

Design

A major drawback we encountered with this unit was its hose length. Unfortunately, measuring at 4.9 ft., this hose is quite short compared to other units that usually have a hose of about 6 ft. This difference in length unfortunately makes installation slightly more difficult, as you’ll have to find a suitable window, which can be a bit of a pain. The vent hose is essential for portable AC units, as it releases excess air and moisture from your home. However, it must be noted that this was the only issue we encountered with the Honeywell MN10CESWW’s design.

A 6 ft. long power cord allows for extended mobility, partially making up for the short vent hose. with caster wheels fastened to the bottom of the device, it’s quite easy to move this unit from one place to the other. However, we would advise against attempting to lift this unit on your own. Weighing 63.9lbs, this unit would be quite heavy for many people to attempt lifting, and so we advise seeking assistance when transporting this product.

Functioning at a noise level of 50 decibels, this unit creates less noise than your average human conversation, which registers at approximately 60dB.

Verdict

The Honeywell MN10CESWW is a powerful unit to be sure. With most of the core convenience enhancing features, we enjoyed using this unit. However, the lower than average efficiency will catch up with you eventually, so we advise any buyers to monitor their usage of this device. having conducted research on this device’s reception with other buyers, there have been individual reports of leakages from this device as well as noise complaints, however due to the majority of favourable reviews, we can only assume that these individual reports are due to damaged units. If you receive a damaged air conditioning unit we advise you contact the manufacturer immediately. Overall, our experience with the Honeywell MN10CESWW was a positive one, and we were left with few, if any complaints.
