Honeywell HPA300 Air Purifier

The Honeywell HPA300 is a fantastic little two-stage air purifier by world-renowned appliance manufacturer; Honeywell. The star of this unit is its HEPA filter, which is capable of removing the tiniest of particulates from the air. In fact, Honeywell’s HEPA filter is capable of removing particulates of down to 0.3 microns, effectively removing 99.97% of all airborne pollutants. Retailing for approximately $221.77, this unit is relatively pricey, although in our opinion, the price-tag is more than fair for the performance that is drawn from this device. Check out our full review below for more details.

Cleaning Capabilities

Enjoying above average CADR scores, the HPA300 is capable of effectively cleaning the air of an estimated living space up of to 465 square feet. However, we would not recommend this product for installation in larger rooms, as the efficient performance of the device will inevitably be affected.

Furthermore, the Honeywell HPA300 is able to carry out an impressive five air exchanges per hour. What this essentially means is that all of the air in the room will have passed through the HPA300’s filters once every 12 minutes.

See below for information regarding this unit’s AHAM certified clean air delivery rate (CADR) scores:

  • Smoke: 300
  • Dust: 320
  • Pollen: 300

Efficiency & Certifications

While the Honeywell HPA300 is highly effective at removing smoke and dust from the air of your living space, unfortunately it does struggle slightly with pollen.

To carry an Energy Star certification, a unit must outperform a percentage of the other products available on the market. This certification declares that the unit in question adheres to regulations regarding energy consumption that have been set out by the Environmental Protection Agency. Fortunately, the Honeywell HPA300 is one such unit.

In addition to being Energy Star certified, this unit also carries a certification from the California Air Resources Board, which guarantees that this unit does not have a negative impact on any of the air with which it interacts.

Convenience

With user convenience taken into consideration, unfortunately the Honeywell HPA300 suffers slightly from a lack of features. With no remote control, sleep mode, or auto functionality, most of the operation of this device is dependent on manual control. However, this unit does include a built-in timer, which allows the device to automatically power-off after a period of operation, which is useful. However, we would have liked to see more convenient features incorporated into the Honeywell HPA300’s final design.

Design

Weighing a mere 16.8lbs, this unit is easily transported from room-to-room. This allows a sense of portability, and flexibility. Unfortunately however, while this unit’s light weight is certainly and advantage, the noise level of the Honeywell HPA300 currently stands at approximately 63dB. For reference, the average human conversation registers at approximately 60dB, meaning you will often find yourself competing with your device if you are seated adjacent to it while operating. Our advice would be to install this device at a distance from where you would frequently be in the room.

An added benefit to the Honeywell HPA300 is its inclusion of an activated carbon pre-filter, which is effective at removing typical household odours.

Help & Support

Honeywell maintain a vast, refined customer support infrastructure, with experienced professionals contactable via telephone, email, online messenger, live chat, or through one of the company’s varies social media presences. Alternatively, if you do not wish to speak to a representative, there is a wealth of online resources available to you, including a troubleshooter, an FAQs section, downloadable user manuals and documents, and more.

The Honeywell HPA300 comes backed by Honeywell’s 5-year limited warranty. We recommend contacting Honeywell directly if you have any questions relating to warranty policies.

Summary

Generally speaking, the Honeywell HPA300 air purifier is a great unit. Effective in rooms of up to its stated range, there’s not more we could ask of a unit of this class. However, our one standing issue with this product is its lack of convenience-enhancing features. That being said, forgiving the lack of features, this unit will get the job done, which at the end of the day is the most important aspect of any home air purifier.
