The Friedrich Chill CP06G10B is one of those middle grounds in the industry. Not overly expensive, yet not exactly cheap. However, it performs better than you would expect, even outperforming some units with larger price-tags. If this interests you, and you have a small-medium sized living space in need of cooling, read our full air conditioner review below to see what we thought about this efficient little unit from legendary brand Friedrich.

Friedrich Chill CP06G10B Air Conditioner

Cooling Performance

Servicing an estimated area of up to 250 square feet with 6,000BTUs of cooling power, the Friedrich Chill CP06G10B air conditioner is a simple and versatile choice of unit, as it can be mounted on a window or through-the-wall.  Additionally, with a maximum airflow of 200 cubic feet per minute, this unit is effective at air circulation, all while being capable of pulling up to 1.8 pints of moisture from the air per hour.

Efficiency / Certifications

With an Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) of 11.2, the Friedrich Chill CP06G10B is exceptionally efficient, compared to the industry average of 9.7, with the best units all ranging anywhere above 10. With an EER like this, it should come as no surprise that this unit comes Energy Star Qualified. This means that this unit has been assessed and adheres to regulations regarding energy consumption set out by the EPA. Furthering this product’s efficiency is its 3 Fan Speeds, allowing the user to select from Low-Medium-High, based on how much power they need to adequately cool their home. This means the unit is only ever running as intensely as is needed.

Other certifications this product has earned include being AHAM Certified, and UL-Listed. The AHAM Certifications means that the product has been examined, and its published specifications are accurate. The UL-Listing states that this product has been assessed by Underwriters Laboratories, and these tests have concluded that this device is safe for public use.

Convenience

As far as convenience is concerned the Friedrich Chill CP06G10B has most of the features we look for in an air conditioning unit of this calibre. This includes a wireless remote control, so the user can set the mode of operation of their unit from anywhere in the room.

A 24-hour programmable timer allows the user to input when in the day they would prefer their unit to function, this is useful for someone living a professional lifestyle, and is therefore out of the house a lot.

An Auto Mode enables the device to detect when temperatures in the air have dropped, or risen to an uncomfortable level. The unit will then power on to re-establish a comfortable environment by adjusting its performance.

A Fan Only function will circulate air throughout the room without chilling it, while a Dehumidify Only mode will similarly remove excess moisture, without cooling the room. Energy Saver Mode allows the Friedrich Chill CP06G10B to function at reduced capacity, by shutting off every three minutes, and coming back on if further cooling is required.

Finally Auto Restart is an incredibly useful function for those of us living in environments that are prone to frequent power outages. This enables the unit to reboot itself following such an outage and continue functioning.

Design

A washable, removable air filter will remove large airborne particulates in the air such as hair or dust. This is especially useful if you suffer from light allergies, however it should be noted that this unit is in no way a replacement for an air purifier.

This unit’s 4-way directional louvers with oscillating motion allow the Friedrich Chill CP06G10B to evenly spread its airflow over your entire living space.

Weighing 70lbs, this unit is quite heavy, and one of the largest units of its kind we have reviewed. Therefore, we urge our readers not to attempt lifting or installing this device without help.

Unfortunately, there is no specified decibel rating available for this device at the time of this review.

Verdict

There are very few issues with this device, such as its large size and weight, and the lack of a Sleep Mode. However, forgiving these relatively minor issues, we really liked this unit. Providing just the right amount of cooling power for a small-medium sized living space, this unit is the perfect middle ground between the high-tech heavy-price-tagged units, and the cheap yet effective units. This would be what we would define as a middle-market leader. If it’s a mid-range unit you’re looking for, definitely give this one a look.
